Facilities - Sports

Every year, the month of April and May at Thoothukudi Medical College is marked by a extra rush of adrenaline, time when spirits are at its height, the whole campus bulbing with the vuirance  of Radiance – a period of extreme action and entertainment. The whole college is divided into four teams by the organizing committee. Each sports team have their own team for cricket, football, volleyball, basketball and also individuals who participate in track and field events. Al teams mould themselves and battle “RADIANCE” begins.

The sports meet was inaugurated by the District Sports Officer Mr.Dawson with the Radiance torch, which was brought from districe sports office by senior sportman of one college and the last stand by Dr.Vasanth Kumar who hit the torch and thus “RADIANCE” began.

Beginning with football outdoors and carom and chess indoors, other events like cricket, basketball, volley ball, shuttle, tennikoit follow and continues till one last day, when the track and field events are conducted. Then comes the sports day which is held in Arena Ultimatum when guests are invited and the winners and champions are honored with prizes which includes the winners of all the team events and championships to the best performer in cricket, football, basketball, volleyball and overall boys and girs champions, which last year was bagged by T. Rajkumar and Secene. And finally the team which has won is honoured with the rolling trophy which marks the end of the sports meet, only to start another grand show “RADIANCE CULTURALS FEST”.

Besides intracollege sports meet, students also participate in intercollege sports meets organized by different colleges and organization. We really feel profound to say that students of Thoothukudi Medical College are the winners of cricket in 2005 and 2007 in Tamil Nadu Intra Medical Sports and runners in Volleyball in Stanlea 2010. Students, both boys and girls have also won track events in various intercollege sports meet.

These breath taking days of complete physical exhantron , twisted legs, sprained ankles and breeding toes marks the individuality of Thoothukudi Medical College.
